Do you ever wish to see the Niagara Falls but airfare to Ontario or New York is way too expensive? Don’t worry because we have a Philippine version of it. I guess you already know which one I’m talking about.
Tinuy-an Falls is known as the Niagara of the Philippines because of its multi-tiered falls and wide water curtain. It is located in Brgy. Burboanan, Bislig, Surigao Del Sur, Philippines.

Here’s how to get there?
- Fly to Butuan Airport (Fare: P 815 | Travel time: 1 hour and 20 mins)
If you’re coming from Manila going to Surigao Del Sur, the cheapest flight will be through Butuan or Bancasi Airport. I got a round-trip ticket for P 815. Yey! As always take the earliest flight to Butuan and the last flight back to Manila.
- Van to Mangagoy (Fare: P 350 | Travel time: 5-6 hours)
From the airport, you can take a van going to Mangagoy, Bislig. Travel time takes around 5-6 hours ride for P 350. There are instances that the van leaves even if it’s not full.
a.) From Davao City – From Ecoland Terminal, take a bus going to Mangagoy, Bislig or the bus going to Butuan City.
Get off at San Franz or San Francisco then ride a bus or van going to Mangagoy. The total travel time is 6 hours.
b.) From Surigao City – Take a bus going to Butuan City Bus Terminal then the bus or van going to Mangagoy . The travel time to Butuan City is around 3 hours plus going to Mangagoy which is 5-6 hours.
You may also take a bus going to Davao City then get off to San Franz then ride a bus or van going to Mangagoy.
- Motorcycle or Habal-habal ride (Fare: P 300-400 | Travel Time : 45 mins)
Upon arrival in Mangagoy, Bislig, you can hire a habal-habal goingto Tinuy-an Falls. It cost around P 200-300 per person going to the falls and back to Mangagoy. Travel time is around 45 minutes and it is a rough road so get your butts ready.

- Pay the Entrance fee
There’s an entrance fee of P 50 per person. You can also hire a tour guide going to the 3rd and 4th tier for P 100 and a little tip for the guy.

- Be early as possible and avoid going there on a holiday or weekdays.
- Hire the habal-habal for a round trip going back to Bislig.
