Thresher Cove Resort and Dive Centre in Malapascua Island

November 13, 2015

Are you planning for a vacation somewhere in Visayas? Why not book a flight to Cebu, hop in a bus going to Maya port located in the northern part of the province. Just wait for 5-6 hours then once you’re in Maya Port take the public boat to Malapascua Island.

Malapascua Island
A part of Malapascua Island.

Malapascua Island is a small island famous for its white sand and thresher sharks that you can see in Monad Shoal.

I went there last October 27 – 29, 2015 at Thresher Cove Resort and Dive Centre. It’s in the other side of the Malapascua Island but don’t worry how you’ll get there. Just take the motorbike ride, give the resort’s name and they will take you there. The resort will be the one to pay for your fare. Awesome, right?

I found the resort while I was checking Agoda and searching for the cheapest rate offered in Malapascua Island then to my surprise there’s a mixed dorm worth P 298 per night.

Agoda Booking

Book via Agoda

Tip: It’s cheaper to book through Agoda.

A mixed dorm is where you’ll share the room with strangers. I told myself let me try this and see what will happen. I’m thankful for that decision because not only it was a badass but because I met and made new friends.

Yey! Shout out to Poppy, Joe, Arno, Maria and Katia, my wonderful roommates. I also like to say hi to the lovely couple who I shared my Kalanggaman Island experience. You saved me from spending a lot of money back there. Good luck on your adventures guys!

You can also go to the main beach and check out other restaurants. You can either walk or ride a motorcycle for P20/day or P40/night.

There’s a corkage of P100 per item.

It was a vacation well spent and a successful solo backpacking for me. I’m definitely going back and maybe try to look for some thresher sharks.
